GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION - Taste of Breakthrough

Mark your calendars now for the Grand Opening of our new Breakthrough Ministry Center!  After four years of planning and construction, the Breakthrough guests and staff are finally enjoying their new home.  One of our guests remarked: "The entire layout of this place is amazing!"

On Saturday, June 21^st, from 12 - 5pm, we will close down the block and host the first ever Taste of Breakthrough: a celebration filled with games, food, music and group tours of our new facility.  Our vision for this event is that the entire Breakthrough family will be able to join in the festivities, including volunteers, donors, guests, staff and of course our local residents of East Garfield Park!

BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN THERE

Robert and Melissa are wonderful volunteers at Breakthrough, but at one time they struggled with many of the same ills as the guests in our shelters as a result of addiction to drugs and alcohol. 

By looking at them today few would guess that they lived through such circumstances.  They are now both healthy, vibrant contributors to their community, giving hope to those who are seeking help at Breakthrough. "This month we are celebrating our one year anniversary of leading A.A. meetings in Breakthrough's shelters...it's a privilege and I look forward to it every week," says Robert. 

Hunger Walk
Break a sweat fighting hunger in Chicago. Join the Breakthrough team at the 23rd Annual Hunger Walk, hosted by the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Date:  Saturday, June 14.

Time: Check-In: 8:30am / Step-Off: 9:30am.

Location: 4400 N. Lake Shore Drive (map & directions)

Softball Coaches
Help young girls learn teamwork and the game of softball.

Days & Times: Games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm, practice dates and times are to be announced.

Commitment: June 3 - August 7.

Manna Meal Groups
Provide, serve and eat dinner at our men's shelter.

Days: Days vary.       

Times: 7:00-9:00pm.

Commitment: Monthly, for 3 months minimum.

Also available: Breakfast (7:00-9:00am) or Lunch (11:00am-1:00pm).
