Fletcher Stevens gets to deliver tasty treats to people every day with his job as an ice-cream delivery man. But he remembers what it’s like to not have a job... |
About two years ago he was addicted to crack cocaine. “It just destroyed everything. I started using and three months later I was homeless” and so he began pan-handling, a life-style that he found demoralizing “If you have any dignity or self-respect you sort of got to throw that out the window in order to pan-handle.” Eventually Fletcher came into a relationship with Christ, an experience that changed his life. “I expect now because I’m a child of God… because I’m a little brother of Jesus, I expect to have a job now, I expect to have food on the table, I expect to have clothes on my back. Because I know that God is a great provider. Fletcher says God provided Breakthrough’s Cleanstreet program for him, where he got new hope and built up a work history that helped him get his current job. “He knew I would need Cleanstreet to help me step to the level I’m at now.” |
